Hey everyone,

Thanks so much for all your help! Thanks to your input we have an awesome (and shimmery) cover for Escaping the Vampire. Check it out on Amazon, and hey, while you’re there, why don’t you go ahead and preorder a copy!

Up next is a revision to classic David C. Cook book, The Picture Bible. Except instead of getting your advice on the cover, we need your help with the title.

The revision is going to be really cool. It’s more of a graphic novel, with realistic and colorful artwork by artist Sergio Cariello, who’s drawn famous characters like Batman and Daredevil for DC Comics and Marvel. Here are a few sample pages (minus the text):

So rather than give you options to choose from for the title, we want you to tell us what you think it should be. We have titles like The Illustrated Bible, Pix, and The New Picture Bible floating around, but we could use a few fresh ideas. So leave a comment with your age and gender and tell us what you think!

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for coming back to our cover blog. This next book is for teenage girls (12-18), who have read the Twilight series. We would love feedback from that audience, as well as from the parents of that group. So if you’re a teen girl, or a parent of a teen girl (or anyone else, really), please let us know what cover you’d be more likely to pick up at your local bookstore. Again, please include your age and gender in your comment.

PS – for the previous book posted, The Meeting of the Waters, we went with a slightly modified version of cover B. It should appear on Amazon soon. Thanks so much for your help!

Here at David C. Cook we have a lot of processes, and they run perfectly, all day, every day. From start to finish every decision about every book is agreed upon in perfect harmony by all the departments involved.

Except not really.

The truth is, it’s difficult to get a diverse group of people to agree on anything. Especially something as important as a book cover. We have ideas, comps, opinions, meetings, more comps, random ideas thought up at 2:00 a.m., more comps, more meetings, and no decisions made. This is where we’re asking for your help. Sometimes everyone in the room thinks he or she knows exactly what cover people in the “real world” would prefer. But then someone else thinks the same exact thing about a different cover.

So this is our experiment—we want your opinion on the covers we post. We won’t make any promises. If twenty people love one cover and hate the other, we still might go with the one everyone hates. You’ll just have to deal with that. But you never know, your comment might make it to a meeting, and that comment will make the decision for the group. How cool is that?

So when we post covers, please leave us a comment letting us know which cover you would be more likely to buy. We’d really love it if you included your age and gender. That will help us know if you’re the audience we’re going for.
